many thanks for explaining the compression procedure.

This information helped me to figure out that I can actually compress the individual .nc-files before packing them into a tar-file.

When doing this, the sum of the individual file sizes is similar to the size of the tar file.

I think that the smaller and more consistent files sizes are beneficial to the users, and thus decided to resubmit the compressed data through SDIS.

Would it be possible to use

all_files_emlr_cstar_mueller_94-04-14.tar

instead of

jdmuller_et_al.zip ?

I suggest that both, the tar file and the individual compressed files therein, are made available to the users.

Will the DOI stay the same when replacing the files?
