The SOCAT automated system on October 30, 2018.

Action(s): The original data and metadata files were sent to OCADS as ZIP file
of the data and metadata, but "_from_SOCAT" has been appended to the name for 
sending as an email attachment. The ZIP data file was unzipped and transferred 
to the directory of data/0-data/ after data evaluation. NCEI personnel extracted 
the longitude and latitude data, and plotted a sampling station map. Both the 
generated longitude latitude file and the sampling station map were saved in the 
about/ directory. NCEI personnel also converted the .xls metadata file to .csv 
and saved it in the data/1-data/ directory.

Files:

about/
This directory contains files created by NCEI staff, email correspondence,
and other 'negotiable' information between NCEI staff and the data provider.

0177819_lonlat.txt - 
  Contains station locations for these data.  Each row contains the
  geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in the
  left column and latitude in the right column, both in decimal degrees).
  NCEI may have corrected or omitted geographic positions that seemed to be
  in error when generating this file.  However, NCEI did not change the
  original data files under the directory data/0-data/.

  Station location map for the data.

0-email.txt - 
  E-mail from SOCAT notifying NCEI that they sent their data to the NCEI
  via SOCAT automated system email.

data/0-data/
This directory contains the data files as submitted to NCEI.

*.csv - Comma-separated-value (CSV) files are the original data files sent by data providers 
to NCEI, these data files are in /0-data directory. 

*.xlsx - original metadata file in XLSX format sent to NCEI by data providers.

data/1-data/
This directory contains the metadata data files converted from xlsx to .csv format be NCEI.
