Source: Shin-ichiro Nakaoka of National Institute for Environmental Studies submitted these data and 
metadata to SOCAT Via SOCAT automated system on November 23, 2016.

Action(s): This data set is part of the SOCAT NOT automated submission to OCADS. The data 
set was submitted to SOCAT for V5 in December last year with condition of original data 
submitted to OCADS after SOCATv5 published. The data set is copied from SOCAT share directory 
manually by Alex Kozyr according to agreement with SOCAT. All original data and metadata files 
were transferred to the directory of data/0-data/. NCEI personnel extracted the longitude and 
latitude data, and plotted a sampling station map. Both the generated longitude latitude file 
and the sampling station map were saved in the about/ directory. 

Files:

about/
This directory contains files created by NCEI staff, email correspondence,
and other 'negotiable' information between NCEI staff and the data provider.

0157369_lonlat.txt - 
  Contains station locations for these data.  Each row contains the
  geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in the
  left column and latitude in the right column, both in decimal degrees).
  NCEI may have corrected or omitted geographic positions that seemed to be
  in error when generating this file.  However, NCEI did not change the
  original data files under the directory data/0-data/.

This directory contains the data files and documentation as submitted to NCEI via SOCAT.

*.csv - Comma-separated-value (CSV) files are the original data files sent by data providers

Source: These data were harvested from the Carbon Dioxide Information
Analysis Center (CDIAC) Ocean CO2 web service at
http://cdiac.ornl.gov/ftp/oceans/VOS_New_Century_2/2015, and accompanying
metadata were downloaded from http://mercury.ornl.gov/metadata/ocean/xml/,
in accordance with the archival submission agreement between NCEI and CDIAC.

Actions:

The original data and metadata files were transferred to NCEI by an
automated process. Another automated process then transferred the original
data files to the data/0-data/ directory of this accession. The automated
process also extracted the longitude and latitude data from those data
files and plotted a sample location map.

Spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel format were converted to comma-separated-value
(CSV) text files.
