Actions: NODC personnel "unzipped" the submitted compressed files
under the directory data/0-data/ and then they removed the compressed
file.  Duplicate files were discarded.  Web pages downloaded from the
provider were moved from the /about directory to the /data/0-data
directory.  Starting and ending observation dates, longitudes and
latitudes were extracted from the data files.  A sample location map
was created using the longitude and latitude information.

This directory contains files generated by NODC with ancillary information
about the data submission.

0001644_lonlat.txt -
  Contains sample locations for these data.  Each row contains the
  geographical position where these data were collected (longitude in
  the left column and latitude in the right column, both in degrees).
  NODC may have corrected geographic positions that seemed to be in
  error when generating this file.  However, NODC did not change the
  original data files under the directory data/0-data/.

The GLobal Ocean Data Analysis Project (GLODAP) is a cooperative
effort to coordinate global synthesis projects funded through NOAA/DOE
and NSF as part of the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study - Synthesis and
Modeling Project (JGOFS-SMP). Cruises conducted as part of the World
Ocean Circulation Experiment (WOCE), Joint Global Ocean Flux Study
(JGOFS) and NOAA Ocean-Atmosphere Exchange Study (OACES) over the
decade of the 1990s have created an oceanographic database of
unparalleled quality and quantity. These data provide an important
asset to the scientific community investigating carbon cycling in the
oceans.
